Bedbugs: These Horrible Unwanted Creatures

by Thomas Proctor

As children our parents all told us the "bed bugs" story, and at it normally scared most of us enough that we stayed in bed and went to sleep, if we only had known what one of these bugs were none of us would have slept in our beds.

There hasn't been an infestation of "bedbugs" reported in nearly 50 years, until now. These unwanted, sneaky little bugs travel from place to place in peoples belongings. They tend to live in places that we would least expect. The biggest mistake that a traveler makes is that when they walk into a hotel room the initially set their suit cases either on the bed or couch. If there is an infestation you are going to bring these little bugs where ever you go next with out ever knowing it.

These tiny little "bedbugs" range in size from so tiny they are hard to see to adult that is comparable to an apple seed in size. What makes these bugs hard to see besides their size is that they like to hide. They tend to hide until the wee hours of the morning when they come out to feed.

As a general rule, bedbugs are brown in color, although the exact shade will vary depending on how long it has been since they fed. Since it can be hard to recognize bedbugs, even when you are looking right at them, expert advice is always a good investment when facing an infestation.

There are different ways to verify that you are experiencing "bedbug symptoms". If you have any type of bites it is best to ask a doctor, they will be able to identify the bite quicker than the unsuspecting person. These types of bites look a lot like a mosquito bite; this is why they are so difficult to diagnosis by the average person. Some people may experience more swelling around the bite, or even be more itchy than another person it depends greatly on your reaction to the bite itself, however they will have some reddening around the bite site.

"Bedbug symptoms" usually go away quickly but they may linger if you have an infestation in your home. When that happens you will keep on getting bites until you get rid of the bugs. It will be hard to sleep and your health will be in jeopardy until you fix the problem.

There had not been any reports of an infestation of bedbugs for over 50 years, until now. These insects live in places we would never expect. Bed bugs can be very tiny, smaller than a pencil point, or rather large, about the size of an apple seed. They stay in their hiding places until late in the night when they emerge to find humans on which to feed. If you think your home might be infested, you should verify that you have bedbug symptoms. If you can actually see bite marks on your skin, visit a doctor and have him identify what kind of insect or bug caused them.
