Water Decorations Inside Your Home: Wall And Table Top Fountains

by Wyatt Fisk

Indoor wall fountains are truly captivating pieces that could animate the interiors of a home. They instantaneously produce a relaxing environment through the sound of cascading water outlining the wall. Frequently, these water features are mounted near the entry ways in order to be seen immediately by guests. More than these places however, fountains could also be enjoyed in different areas around the house, which is in fact a better idea than just placing them in the entry ways.

To start building wall fountains make sure that you have the necessary tools such as drywall anchors, screw driver, a pencil, a drill and a hammer. Before you start hammering on your wall, read the instructions included in the package of your wall fountain first so that you will have an idea about the functions and set up of your water feature. Try to consider that there are some fountains that are already set up, and there are also others that have parts that needs to be connected before they can be actually put in place. Majority of the connections that you have to do for unset fountains are all direct processes; however, as there are different fountain models, it is still necessary to refer to instructions to ensure that your fountain will function.

The next thing to do is to locate the best possible flat wall surface where the water will flow smoothly, but a wall with ridges, curves and other patterns could also make a more dramatic effect for your water fountain. After which, make a mark on the wall where you will place the fountain. Once you're done making marks, it is time to decide on how you will affix your fountain. Basically, wall fountains can be mounted in two ways: the first one is to have slots at the back of the fountain where you can insert the screws, and the second one is by placing a bracket on the wall, which is an easier option as it is less extensive to do and is more appropriate for a large wall fountain.

As the second option is the easiest way to have a wall mounted fountain, the next thing that you have to do is to drill holes where you will place your anchors, where you will eventually place the fountain brackets. When the anchors and brackets are already in place, carefully suspend your wall fountain. Before you actually plug the cord, make sure that you already fill your fountain with the right amount of water; enough to cover the water pump, but not too full as the water may bubble over the edge of the basin while in use. If all the things are set, you can now plug your wall fountain and enjoy its beautiful and stress relieving prowess.

If a wall fountain is too expensive for your budget, you can still have a water feature inside your home in the form of a tabletop fountain. This type of fountain is a project that you can do yourself. The materials you need includes plastic tubing, a pump, decorative stones, a medium to large sized bowl that is either clear or colored. To start with, place the pump inside the bowl and attach the plastic tubing to it.

Once you have placed the pump and tube inside the bowl, fill the bowl with your chosen decorative pieces to make your fountain look more appealing. These stones can also hide the cord of the pump, or if you want you can just tape the cord to the side of the bowl that is not too visible. Add enough water to the bowl until it covers the pump. You can now plug the cord and enjoy the many wonders of your homemade tabletop fountain.

Wall fountains are nice water features that could accentuate a dull looking wall inside homes. A wall mounted fountain can be installed easily with the use of simple household materials. In fact, you can do it yourself or with a help of a friend. Similar to this, the tabletop fountain is also easy to create, and an enjoyable home project that you and your kids can enjoy doing.
